Republic later took the footage down from its official channels, noting that it wasn't the only outlet to air the " erroneous" video. ![]() This becomes much more apparent when the full video is seen: The gameplay shown in Republic's broadcast is largely zoomed-in footage of a fighter jet flying across a darkened sky, but the full gameplay video includes more video game-y camera movements and close-ups of an anti-air canon that's clearly a video game asset. This was false, and fact checker Mohammed Zubair dug into the story, finding the footage was from an Arma 3 gameplay video on YouTube. Republic attributed the footage to Hasti TV, claiming it showed Pakistan military using airstrikes to aid the Taliban against Afghan resistance. The game largely chooses to only pull inspiration from real-life wars, as opposed to adapting them as they happened. An Arma 3 Vietnam War expansion pack was released earlier this year, but it's one of the few pieces of the game that directly ties into a real, historical event.
